The Lady Eagles will head to the Bi-District Playoff game on Tuesday May 5, against San Perlita at 7 o’clock in Rivera.

The Lady Eagles traveled to Charlotte last Wednesday to make up a rained-out game. The important game would determine the Lady Eagles playoff hopes and standings. With that at stake, the Lady Eagles accepted the challenge.

In their first at bat the visiting Lady Eagles were able to score one run when Lacie Jochetz laid down a squeeze bunt to score Kaitlin McCool who had led off the game with a triple.

The lady Eagles struck again in the third inning when Cassie Blaschke reached second on an error by the left fielder.

Chelsea Bluemel would come up later that inning and bring Blaschke around on a single to right center.

The Lady Eagles fell behind in the bottom of the third 4-2. The Lady Trojans were able to get four runs on a couple of singles and costly errors.

The Lady Eagles would then play some tough defense and hold the lady Trojans to no runs and left eight runners stranded. Meanwhile the Lady Eagles bats started coming alive in the fourth inning.

Samantha Lopez had reached base on an error by the short stop. Mallory Jessop hit a double that would score Lopez, but Jessop was caught in a hot box trying to reach third, making the score 4-3, Charlotte’s favor, after four innings of play.

In the fifth inning the Lady Eagles tied it up when Blaschke reached first base on an errant throw by the third baseman. McCool would hit a double that would score Blaschke.

In the sixth inning the Lady Eagles went on a hitting barrage. Leading off the inning was Melissa Cisneros with a single followed by Lopez reaching on an error by the short stop. Jessop would come up and hit a single that would score Cisneros, Meagan Niemann then hit a double that would score Lopez and Jessop.

Niemann came across the plate when McCool hit a shot in the gap for a stand up double, she would move to third on an error by the first baseman that would allow Bluemel to get to first.

The bases were then cleared when Megan Carter hit a line shot double to the center field gap that would score McCool and Bluemel. In the seventh inning, the onslaught continued.

Jessop reached base on a fielder’s choice, Niemann then reached first base on a single. With runners in scoring position Blaschke hit a shot to the short stop that was too hot to handle, scoring Jessop.

McCool reached base with a hit. Jochetz loaded them up when the centerfielder misplayed a fly ball to center field. With runners in scoring position, Bluemel hit a triple that would clear the bases.

Bluemel then scored on a sacrifice by Carter.

Carter pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts.

McCool was 4 for 5 scoring 3 times 1 RBI, Bluemel 3 for 5, 2 runs scored, Lopez and Jessop went 3 for 4 and scored 2 runs each. Niemann went 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI’s, Carter, Cisneros, Jochetz, and Blaschke all had 1 hit each.

“The Lady Eagles would like to thank all the fans that made it to Charlotte and gave their support,” said Coach Jaime Cano. “We ask that you continue to support the Lady Eagles during the playoffs. Faith.”
