Mr. Valderaz was born on Aug. 17, 1957, in Nixon to Agapito and Eustacia Valderaz.
He graduated from Refugio High School in 1975, and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer for 36 years.
He was a member of Pan American Golf Association and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sherryl G. Valderaz of Victoria; a son, Lucas Valderaz of Victoria; three daughters, Helene Valderaz Keen of Seattle, Wash., Tracey Garcia of Savannah, Ga., and Ashley Valderaz of Victoria; a brother, Lee (Marina) Balderaz of Beeville; a sister, Viola Valderaz of Refugio; and three grandchildren, Lincoln Rodriquez, Bella Garcia and Ronin Hector Keen.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Artero Memorial Chapels, followed by a rosary recited at 7 o’clock.
Visitation resumed from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday April 7, at Faith Family Church.
Church services were at 10 a.m. officiated by Pastor Larry Helms.
Pallbearers were Larry Lopez, Joe Rea, Bobby O’Brien, Rick Salinas, Joe Gonzalez, Trey Spinks, Lee Balderaz and Kyle Spinks.
