HOUSTON – Billy Frank Gumm, 77, of Spring, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, in The Woodlands.

Mr. Gumm was born on Nov. 23, 1936, in Refugio, to J.B. and Helen Gumm.

He graduated from Refugio High school in 1954. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock following his military service.

He married Jane Jones Cooper on Feb. 12, 1977. They recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary.

He was a resident of Spring for 22 years and worked for Williams Corporation, formally Transcontinental Gas Pipeline for 35 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member and officer of The National Association of Corrosion Engineers.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of Tomball Country Club and a former member of the Refugio Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne; sister, Kay; and grandson, Hunter Reynolds.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; four children, Paul (Desi) Gumm of San Antonio, Jennifer (Bill) Atwood of Minot, N.D., and Kimberly Reynolds and Michael Cooper, both of Spring; nine grandsons, Alex, Jarred and Ryan Gumm, Brian and Brandon Atwood and Trevin, Tanner, Conlin, and Kerric Reynolds; four sisters, Janice (Johnny) Wilson of Refugio, Carol (Delbert) Niemann of Missouri City, Cynthia (Richard) Campbell of New Braunfels, and Patricia Sellers of Rockwall; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Gumm Denison of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Klein Memorial Park Chapel with longtime friend Rev. Roger Fancher of Lufkin officiating.

Burial followed in Klein Memorial Park in Spring.

Pallbearers were Johnny Wilson, Delbert Niemann, Richard Campbell, Jake David, Neil Miller and Jeff Petrilla.

The grandsons were honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Klein Funeral Homes.
