Editor:

My 12 years of Boys Scouts culminated in the completion of my final project on Feb. 26.

This Eagle Scout project is the new Woodsboro welcome sign on the north side of town off of U.S. Highway 77.

There were many people who contributed to this project expending more than 250 hours of their time.

I’d like to thank Mike Schindler of Burrow Global who assisted with the design, construction and transportation of the 24 feet x 8 feet pipe frame.

There were nine fellow Woodsboro Eagle football players who helped to off load the 650 pound frame when it arrived in Woodsboro.

Special thanks to Robert Rooke and Robbie Thomas for coordinating the use of their property for the project.

I’d like to thank the Woodsboro City Council, WISD School Board and the Woodsboro Lions Club for ordering, purchasing and donating the signs which were placed on the frame.

Special thanks to Mr. Brian Hicks for donating significant use of his tractor which was critical in clearing the fence line and placing the sign in the ground.

Hard Core Supply and Parker Lumber contributed equipment and materials for the project.

Roger Breeden, Robert Michael Thomas and John Fehner were instrumental in site preparation, equipment instruction and final tweaks to the frame.

This project would not have been possible without the guidance (and persistence) of my Scoutmasters. I will remember them always.

The funds for the project were raised from a pie sale. I would like to thank all my family members who baked the pies and all the community members who supported the effort by buying pies.

Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to thank my family members who assisted from beginning to end.

From the first turned dirt to the final bolt in place (you know who you are).

This has been a great experience. I’ve learned I can count on my family and my community.

I thank God this project was finished without anyone getting injured.

I’m glad I had an opportunity to show “Woodsboro Pride” in a way that will last for years to come.

Thank you all for your never-ending support.
