Alice, TX - Jack LaRue Hood, Sr., 85, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014.

Mr. Hood was born May 30, 1929 in Woodsboro, TX to Bruce and Lula Hood.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Jack LaRue Hood, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Alice Calhoun Hood of Alice, TX; son Charles “Mike” Michael Hood of Alice, TX; daughters Rue Ann Claybrook of Refugio, TX and Christal Hood-McDonald (Mike) of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Trace (Leslie) Claybrook, Colten Claybrook, Reed Claybrook and Kieran McDonald and two great-grandchildren, Tanner Vanek and Sterling Claybrook.

Jack enjoyed watching his three oldest grandsons play football at his alma mater, Refugio High School, where he himself played.

Jack was self-employed as a farmer and truck driver and served on the Agua Dulce ISD School Board for over 20 years.

In “retirement” he combined his previous two vocations into one while working for the South Texas Zone of the Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Moore Funeral Chapel from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Graveside service for the immediate family will take place on Wednesday.
