When we hear about the United States soldiers, we always find that their character demonstrates honor, nobility and service to our county. This past year, members of the Home and Garden Club gave a lot of their time and energy to find some action statues of honored military soldiers. The idea was to find just the right size in order that they could be placed in the Veterans Memorial Garden in town. We wish to applaud the members and Karnes City citizens, Johnie Hall and Marlane Smith, who are sisters and both were born and raised here, for the many hours they spent to find these very meaningful statues for the Memorial Garden. Please take a moment to go and visit the garden and see the four statues there. The garden is located directly across the street from the courthouse annex building. The club would also like to compliment Karnes City citizen, Gumicindo Cruz, for all the work he does to keep the landscaping done at the garden site and Sean O’Brien for being instrumental in getting the statues placed on the corners. Karnes City has beautiful, caring citizens. The statues express the emotion surrounding the service and sacrifice of the military men and women and their families.
