BEEVILLE – Sara Camille Casas attended the 86th annual FFA State Convention in Fort Worth from July 14-18. This year’s theme was “I can suit up, take action, serve, achieve, lead and grow.”

More than 11,000 attended the state convention where members worked together to learn new ideas to take back and make their year even more successful. A question asked over and over again from guest speakers was “What can you do? And will you do it?”

Casas attended several leadership workshops, listened in on state events that were being judged and attended all the general sessions. She enjoyed all the speakers, especially family friend Victor Guerra from La Muneca Cattle.

Casas was invited as a special guest to the Texas FFA Foundation 2014 VIP Breakfast, where she had the opportunity to visit with Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples. She will lead the local FFA chapter this year as president, and she also holds the office of district treasurer of the Gateway FFA.

Casas has a passion for agriculture and ranching, which is no surprise since it has been in her family since 1915, which was the year her great-grandfather bought the first family ranch. She looks forward to the upcoming year and is excited to welcome new agriculture teacher, Richard Ball.
