Wilbert Lee “Caliche,” Kolodziej died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, in Corpus Christi.

Mr. Kolodziej was born Sept. 15, 1938, in DeWees to Leon Floren and Meta Koenning Kolodziej. He married Mary Ann Johnson on June 13, 1959, in Pawnee. After graduation from Poth High School, he started his 32-year career with Halliburton in Falfurrias. From there he was transferred to Beeville then Robstown. After retiring from Halliburton, he moved to Sinton where he continued driving trucks for Chemical Express, Willoughby Trucking and Groendyke Transport. In April 2010, he fully retired to Tuleta.

He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Leona; brother, Harvey; parents, Leon and Meta Kolodziej; sister, Margaret Luedecke and her husband Ernest; and brother-in-law, James Eldridge.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Kolodziej; sisters, Lynette (Clem) Jarzombek and Kay Francis Eldridge; children, Michael (Kim) Kolodziej of Sinton, and Michelle (Danny) Morris of Tuleta; grandchildren, Ashley Nicole, Lindsey Renee, Reagan Beth, William “Will” Tyler, Taylor Marie and Brandon Kyle; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 14, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Eckols Funeral Home in Kenedy with services following at 10:30. Interment followed at Pawnee Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard Benson, Gary Kelley, Will Kolodziej, Brandon Morris, Joseph “JoJo” Respondek and Mark Sain.

Honorary pallbearers were all of Wilbert’s Halliburton family.
