Eighth-grade boys win district crown

Woodsboro competed in the Jr. High District Tennis Tournament in Alice on Saturday, May 9.

In the seventh-grade division, Justin Fierova won the boys’ singles and Jamie Grasham and Zach Salinas took third in boys’ doubles.

In the eighth-grade division, Bonnie Finnessey took third in girls’ singles and Rachel Loveday and Alicen Grimes took fourth in girls’ doubles.

John Blaschke took fourth in boys ‘singles while Kasandra Hernandez and Logan Moses took second in mixed doubles. Jake Henderson and Dillon Starr won the boys’ doubles and Zeke Montalvo and Jared Martinez took second.

Woodsboro won the eighth grade boys district title. Also competing for the Eagles were Lauren Cramer, Brittney Lopez, David DeLeon and Conner Payne.

“The kids worked hard and competed well,” said coach Keith Williams.”

“They represented Woodsboro well, and can be proud of what they accomplished.”
