Each year the crops committee plans and coordinates this event to highlight agricultural production and provide timely information to the growers and agri-businesses in the area.
“The production, storage, and marketing of agricultural commodities plays an enormous role in the local economy and the crop tour provides the culture in which producers and consumers can come together to share this heritage,” said Jerry Gray, county extension agent.
Educational programs will be presented by Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Texas Department of Agriculture, and the Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Program.
The morning program will begin with registration and breakfast at 7 a.m. at Canales Café in Tivoli.
The afternoon program will begin with registration at 4 p.m. at the Bonnie View Park.
The tour will conclude with a barbecue meal and social.
The crop tour programs will provide continuing education units towards re-certification of pesticide applicator licences.
“The Refugio County Crops Committee, with the financial support of numerous sponsors, will host both the breakfast and the barbecue meal,” Gray said. “The public is invited to join in the fellowship and education scheduled for this year’s crop tour.”
