David C. Wright, 63, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009. He was a lifetime resident of Tivoli and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tivoli.

He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. Wright served as a paratrooper and a mechanic from Jan. 1965 through 1967.

He worked for the Texas Animal Health Commission for 32 years as a livestock inspector until his retirement in 2000.

He was born July 16, 1945, in Houston, to Lee Pruitt and Nora Gussie Dietrich Wright.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Scott Wright.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Etta Jean Wright of Tivoli; two daughters and their spouses, Kendra Dee Wright and Thomas Camacho, and Jenna Lea and Max Lopez, all of Tivoli; one grandson, Jaxon Lopez; one sister, Donna Petty of Austin; and a sister-in-law, Mary Wright of Kingsville.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 4 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service was conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 5, at the First Presbyterian Church in Tivoli. Cindy Myers, commissioned lay pastor, officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Tivoli or Hospice of South Texas.
