McGuill, Cobb awarded scholarships in Bryan

Refugio High School graduates Laura McGuill and Jacob Cobb were the winners of a total of $25,000 in scholarships during the 4-H Opportunity Scholarship assembly in Bryan June 12..

The assembly was conducted at the Brazos County Exposition Complex in Bryan.

Jacob received a $10,000 Richard Wallrath Educational Foundation scholarship through the Baccalaureate Degree Program. Jacob will attend Texas A&M University College Station where he will major in cellular biology to become a neurologist.

Laura received a $15,000 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo scholarship, through the Baccalaureate Degree Program. Laura will attend Victoria College and transfer to Texas State University where she will pursue a degree in nutrition & food sciences to become a dietician.

The two students were honored at dinner banquets with their respective donors at the conclusion of the scholarship assembly.

Both Jacob and Laura were commended for adhering to the 4-H motto, “Make The Best Better.”
