The founder of the locally legendary Rockin’ Dominoes Band of the 1960s will be back in Refugio Saturday, June 20, at Padilla Hall with his new band. Dubbed the Saints and Sinners, the 10-piece band will get the music underway at 9 p.m. and through 1 a.m.

“I’m coming back to Refugio,” Cantu said. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Cantu said the dance will feature all the great “oldies.”

“I’m sure we’ll play something for everyone to enjoy,” Cantu said.

He expects his Army buddies from the Ia Drang Valley to be there, along with a host of ex-Refugians. He’s hoping that others from the county and area will show up, too.

“Fanny and all my brothers will be there,” Cantu said. “We’ll get to see people we have not seen in 40 years.

“People will be coming from San Angelo, Tennessee and across Texas,” Cantu said. “It should be a great evening.”
