Organizers of the July 3 TEA Party on the Bee County Courthouse north lawn still are looking for citizens who wish to speak.

The TEA party, which stands for Taxed Enough Already, will be the second local protest of the federal government’s massive spending, take-over of private enterprise and foreign policy changes since Jan. 20.

The same organizers attracted a significant number of protesters to the first event on April 15. The gathering brought out local attorneys, business leaders, politicians, ordinary citizens and others who voiced concerned about how elected federal officials are taking the country down the path to socialism.

“We are concerned about the unprecedented expansion of government power and out-of-control spending that will enslave future generations,” said organizer Betty Sevier recently.

“Come join our nonpartisan tea party,” Sevier said. “Bring your sign and share your thoughts on these issues.”

Anyone who would like to take an active part in the event, especially those who would like to say something, are being urged to contact Virgina Pendley at crvm57@yahoo.com or 358-6287; Robert Bridge at bridgeclan@yahoo.com or 358-7574; Annie Allard at annie148@stx.r.com; or Bettye Sevier at bsevier@stx.rr.com or 354-5639.
