The older divisions within the Beeville summer track program traveled to Gregory-Portland last Saturday and earned several medals in some tough competition.
Joseph Gonzales placed sixth in the intermediate shot put event with a throw of 28-7.5. Allie Camacho earned a second place medal in the young women’s high jump competition. Erika Martin placed fourth in the sub-youth (SY) long jump with a leap of 12-8.5. Regine Govella ran to a third place finish in the tough 3,000-meter run with a time of 14:13. Ruben Garza placed fourth in the sub-youth 800-meter run with a clocking of 2:39. Garza came back and ran to a sixth place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:11.
Martin (SY) captured a second place medal in the 100-meter low hurdles with a swift 18.74 time. Martin won the 200-meter hurdles in 32.99 seconds and was third in the 200-meter dash with a 29.57 time. Govella was second in the 1,500-meter run with a good time of 6:10 while Garza also placed second in the boys group at 5:48.
The older group will be competing today (Saturday) at Corpus Christi’s Cabaniss complex and then will be back at Gregory-Portland next weekend for the summer track championships.
