The summer season of sports is almost here and the A.C. Jones High School athletic department has several camps, clinics and leagues available to help keep the youngsters busy, learning and keeping fit this summer.
All activities will be supervised by BISD athletic staff. Summer track runs from June 2 -28 and will be situated at the high school stadium. The Trojan weight room will be open Monday through Thursday from 5-8 p.m. during the summer with structured workouts involving strength and conditioning. The primary focus of the weight training will be on proper technique and explosive lifts to develop the athlete.
The gym at A.C. Jones will be open from 4-6 p.m. every Monday through Thursday. Football’s 7-on-7 will meet every Tuesday at 6 p.m. on the high school practice fields. A boys’ basketball league will play each Monday night in June in the JHS new gym. A girls’ basketball league will take over the floor in the new gym on Thursday nights during June. Indoor soccer teams will have Wednesday night all to themselves in the JHS old gymnasium from 4-6 p.m. Contact the JHS athletic department at the high school for more information on these activities.

Have fun while learning and improving fundamentals of tennis. Four days of instruction, drills and games with coach John Kidd and staff. June 23-26 for grades 3-9 from 8-11 a.m. at the high school tennis courts.
Have fun while learning and improving fundamentals of tennis. Four days of instruction, drills and games with coach Stella Resio and staff. July 14-17 for grades 6-9 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the high school gymnasium.
Athletes will participate in drills and activities that will improve and refine their skills at either positions with coach Chris Soza and staff. July 15-17 for grades 4-9 from 9-11 a.m. at the high school field house.
Athletes will develop individual football skills. Maximum participation in drills, mini-games, activities and competitions to refine skills and improve personal bests with coach Chris Soza and staff. July 22-25 for grades 6-9 from 8 a.m.-noon at the high school field house.
