Jenive Smith Mayfield, 82, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, in Victoria.
Smith graduated from Refugio High School in 1946. She worked at the telephone office before moving to Victoria. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Victoria, the League of Woman Voters and the Garden Club.
She was born May 12, 1927, to Lonnie Eugene Smith and Willie Mae Martin Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon Gerone Smith and Eugene “Shorty” Smith; and two nephews, Vernon Carl Smith and Michael Wayne Berry.
Survivors include her husband Robert Lee Mayfield of Victoria; daughter, Pamela Yvonne Murray and her husband Randy of Greensboro, N.C.; sister, Jewel Berry of Refugio; three half sisters, Jean Muse of Heber Springs, Ark.; Shirley and husband Ray O’Neal of Sarah, Miss.; and Linda and husband Ted Welch of Senatobia, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private grave-side services were conducted at Memory Gardens at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009.
