The Refugio County Jamboree will welcome newcomer Ray Crittended and Al Nelson, both of Corpus Christi; Judy Chesser of Kingsville; Buddy White of Aransas Pass; and Lou Rochelle of the East Texas area.

The show will get underway Thursday, July 23, at 7:30 p.m. for an evening of country music at the community center.

“Crittendon had his own band for may years, and was very popular with all his fans,” said Rick Faircloth, show organizer. “He hung up his guitar approximately20-plus years ago, just doing a few gigs to satisfy his love of music.”

Everyone that followed him back when will now get a chance to see him again so don’t miss this opportunity, Faircloth said.

Al Nelson has been a musician for several years.

“Al, a very good drummer as well as a very good singer, is still entertaining, and is well known as a Ray Price style ballad singer,” said Faircloth. “Al can take a song and get the very most out of it. The last few years he has also grasped the Big Band style of singing. You’ll really enjoy this gentleman.”

Judy Chesser is a relative newcomer to the Country Opry circuit, but her on-stage presence rings like a professional.

“She has a great voice, and is in total control while on the stage.

Faircloth said. “You will enjoy her performance, and will be asking for more.”

Buddy White made a name for himself in the big time, playing drums for Hank Thompson’s Swing Band. He played all over Las Vegas and other venues in the USA.

Admission is $4. For more information call Rick Faircloth at361-293-5887 or Refugio County Chamber of Commerce at 526-2835.
