Nelson Gillespie, 81, died Monday, July 20, 2009. He was born August 25, 1927 in Woodsboro, Texas to the late Emitt and Allie Johnson Gillespie. He was a farmer, retired constable-precinct #2 for 24 years, and owner of County Wrecker Service. He was a veteran of WWII. He left behind a legacy: a genuine heart....good deeds and genuine love.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vernelle Gillespie, son Steve Gillespie, and grandson Ryan Edwards.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon Gillespie of Corpus Christi; Becca Gillespie, Jennifer Gillespie (and son-in-law, Benjamin Stockton), all of Woodsboro; and grandchildren, Dustin Oliver and Kamryn Stockton.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 6-8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Refugio. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Woodsboro Burial will follow at LaRosa Cemetery in Woodsboro.

Pallbearers are Joe Perez, Chris Niemann, Brian Niemann, Armando Garza, James Robert Fortenberry, and Benjamin Stockton. Honorary pallbearers are Gavino "Cowboy" Quintanilla, Robert Gillsespie, Dave Sellstrom, and Saragosa Bela.
