He was reared in Woodsboro before joining the Air Force. He served his country for 23 years and retired as a chief master sergeant. Most of his career was spent in Washington, D. C. in the 89th Air Squad.
Following his service, he spent 20 years working on the flight crew for Davis Oil Co., traveling the world,.
He retired in 1993 and moving to Aurora Colo. where he lived for 10 years, working in the Renaissance Hotel until he moved to Utah in 2003.
He was born in Refugio County, Texas on May 18, 1930 to Pedro and Evrarista Garza.
He was preceded in death by his parents ; and two brothers, Henry Garza and David Garza, all former residents of Woodsboro.
Survivors include Barbara, his wife of 53 years; two daughters Valerie and Amy; and two sons Stephen and Michael; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He faithfully attended St. Andrews Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 31 at St. Andrews Chapel.
