Geraldine Avery, 79, of Woodsboro died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. She was a homemaker and a member of New Light Baptist Church.

She was born Dec. 20, 1928, in Refugio.

She is preceded in death by one daughter, Gwendolyn Avery; one son Odell Lewis; two sisters, Christine Wade and Norma Ross; and one brother, Rodney Lewis.

Survivors include seven daughters, Ida Mae Pleasant of Pflugerville, Geraldine Avery of Austin, Denise Garza of Victoria, Priscilla Lewis of Refugio, Betty Collins and Ella Reed, both of Woodsboro; four sons,, Morris Avery and Robert Lewis, both of Refugio, Leonard Avery of Woodsboro, Royce Avery of Waco; two sisters, Gladys Green and Rosetta Avery, both of Woodsboro; 34 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct, 15, at First Baptist Church, Refugio.

Burial was in Community Cemetery.
