The Refugio Elementary School Library will host the annual Scholastic Book Fair from Nov. 3 - 7. This year’s theme is Go on a Safari for Fun Books! During the week, there will be numerous events at the fair.

On Monday, a Teacher Preview will open the fair from 3:30 to 4 p.m. following a Family Night from 4 to 6:30. Parents will have the opportunity to begin their Christmas shopping and purchase books for their child and teacher.

Students who attend with their family can take a Safari photo, and everyone who attends will get a chance to win various door prizes. Students will be entertained by local storytellers.

On Tuesday from 7 to 7:45 a.m., the fair will host Muffins for Mom and Donuts for Dad.

“Come and enjoy breakfast at the fair with your child and buy a great book,” said Anna Garcia, librarian.

On Wednesday, teachers and students are encouraged to dress up in their khakis and enjoy Wacky Khaki Wednesday. If you make a purchase that day, you will receive a Safari bookmark.

Grand Day is set for Thursday when students can invite their grandparents or other special people to visit the book fair and take a souvenir photo. Friday is Catch a Turkey Day.

“Come and have turkey dinner with your child and visit the Scholastic Safari Book Fair,” Garcia said.

All proceeds will be used to benefit the RES library by purchasing books for the students.
