The junior varsity Bobcats traveled to Three Rivers this past Thursday night to take on the host Bulldogs. The young ‘Cats scratched their way to a 16-6 win.

The Bobcats started out sluggishly as Three Rivers pulled ahead on the first drive of the game 6-0.

“We were breaking in two new outside linebackers this week and it took them a while to get going and really understand what we were trying to do against their offense,” said S-T coach Thomas Harrington.

Once the young Bobcats figured things out, the defense held the Bulldogs scoreless the rest of the game.

Offensively, the Bobcats started out slowly, turning the ball over a couple of times in the first half.

After some halftime adjustments, the Bobcats came out on fire in the second half. Manny Flores plunged in on a short run and converted the two-point conversion to make the score 8-6 in favor of the Bobcats.

When Skidmore-Tynan got the ball back, Jeremy Byrd showed a lot of determination to take the ball 20 yards on a fourth and 20 call to make the score 14-8.

Hudson Wallace punched in the two-point conversion and that score held as the final ended up in favor of the Bobcats 16-6.

“The effort was there, we just missed some assignments and made some mistakes offensively in the first half, but the kids really pulled it together in the second half,” said JV coach Jesse House.

Top performers for the Bobcats on defense included Manny Flores, John Lamb, Tomas Moore and Bryan Priddy. Offensive stars were Jeremy Byrd, Nathan Smith, Flores and Lamb.

The JV Bobcats will host the Pettus Eagles on Thursday night in Skidmore.
