James L. Richardson, 86, formerly of Refugio died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 in Corpus Christi.

He was a deacon at the Blanconia Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy Veteran. Richardson was the former owner of James Auto Supply in Refugio.

He was born on July 8, 1923, in Clegg to O.D. and Laura Richardson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 40 years, Gerry Richardson; son, Michael; sister, Lanisse; and grandson, James Robert.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Armstrong Richardson; daughter Mary Ann Barnett; two sons and their spouses, Bobby and Ruby Richardson; Johnny and Tina Armstrong; brother-in-law, Johnny B. Thompson and wife Kathleen, and five grandchildren.

Visitations will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 6-8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. at Blanconia Baptist Church.

Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery.

James was a good man. His business was run with integrity and good will. I knew him in that manner mainly through my dad who, upon closing his grocery, sold his building to James. Refugio was fortunate to have had James as one of its small business operators; he added much to the quality of Refugio life.
