Members of the community are invited to stop by and inspect the old school. The members of the auxiliary will be available to explain the plans to turn the Jarrett School building into a community center.
Recently, a survey was made and the land cleared which led to several interesting discoveries: a well, a cistern, a horse trough and an outhouse. These treasures will be repaired and will remain part of the school area.
The Auxiliary has received some repair estimates regarding the cost of the repairs. The roof will be the first area of repair now that basic cleanup has been completed. The next repair will be to the two large doors, followed by the windows.
The Auxiliary has a raffle under way to begin raising the money for the restoration of the Jarrett School house and grounds.
The drawing will be held at the open house.
Grandchildren of Jarrett School’s students will draw for the winning prizes which include three mini gold coins, a guided wild hog hunt, a hand-crocheted U.S. flag (40 by 70), a 1901 Morgan silver dollar, an Egyptian tablecloth and a handmade lap robe.
