Ernest Louis Ermis, 83, of Mathis, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009. He was an Army reserve veteran, retired farmer, and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis.

Ermis was Dec. 4, 1925 near Shiner in Gonzales County to Louis and Agnes Palitza Ermis.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lillie Hajek, Carrie Schmidt, and Lollie Rektorik; six brothers, Louis Ermis Jr., Julius Ermis, Edwin Ermis, Edward Ermis, William Ermis and George Ermis.

He is survived by his wife Beth Wallis Ermis; two daughters, Valerie Langridge and husband Bobby of Woodsboro, Leslie Langride and husband Curtis of Detroit, Michigan; one son, John Ermis of Mathis; three grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel.

A private funeral mass and burial was held Monday, Nov. 16.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Lou Gehrig Foundation or the ALS Organization South Texas Chapter-San Antonio.
