Refugio County Democratic Chair Johnny Karstedt will be in the district courtroom today (Thursday) to accept applications for a place on the ballot for the March 2 Democratic Primary election.

Today is the first day to file an application to be a candidate for one of the offices up for election.

Terms will expire for the county judge; county commissioner, Pct. 2; county commissioner, Pct. 4; county treasurer; district clerk; county clerk; justice of the peace, Pct. 1; justice of the peace, Pct. 2; district judge of the 267th Judicial District.

Candidates who wish to file on the Republican ticket may contact the Republican Party chair, Walter Coumbe, at 361-779-7002.

All candidates have until Jan. 4, 2010, to file for a place on the ballot.
