The filing deadlines ended Monday for candidates to run in the March Democratic Republican primary election.

A drawing for placement on the Democratic ballot will be held Friday, Jan. 8, at 10:30 a.m. in the courthouse.

Ten candidates have filed to run on the Democratic ballot and one has filed to run on the Republican ballot.

Incumbent County Judge Rene Mascorro will face off with Christopher Bedynek.

Four candidates will vie for justice of the peace, pct. 2. Incumbent Cher Whitlow did not file. Veronica Rocha, former county treasurer for 40 years, will face Krystal Farrow, John Moehr, Emi Riemenschneider.

Candidates for county clerk are Patty Baugh and Ida Ramirez.

Candidates who have filed on the Republican ticket are Louis Aduddell for county treasurer.

Aduddell, along with District Clerk Ruby Garcia and County Commissioners Stanley Tuttle, pct. 2 and Rod Bernal, pct. 4, do not have opponents.
