Clay Lyne Nesloney, 50, of Cypress, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009. He was a self-employed oil and gas well specialist.
Clay graduated from Refugio High School in 1978 and attended Bee County College. He was an active member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
He volunteered for more than 20 years on the Area Go-Texan committee in order to provide scholarships for South Texas high school students. He also encouraged supporters to purchase animals in Refugio and Harrison counties to assist students in FFA and 4-H Clubs. He also volunteered for youth charities such as the Ronald McDonald “Rome for a Home” and Toys for Tots.
Nesloney was born Sept. 26, 1959, in Alexandria, Va., to George and Martha Nesloney.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard Alex “Ben” and Mary Nesloney, and Sydney Robert and Martha Catherine Eoff.
Survivors include his parents; wife, Yevette; and children Courtney Lynne Nesloney, Cole Garrett Nesloney and Brett Alain Nesloney, all of Cypress; two sisters, Shelly Heard and husband Tim, Regina Bedynek and husband Joseph, all of Corpus Christi; a brother, Clint Nesloney and wife Lois of Victoria; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 25 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church.
Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cole Nesloney, Brett Nesloney, Josh Comstock, Mark Cash, Charlie Forbes, Lee Roy Hoskins, Tim Lange and Pat Winstead.
