Lake Corpus Christi State Park is planning to hold its annual fishing clinic for young anglers on Jan. 30. An estimated 1,500 rainbow trout will be stocked by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for this event.

With the help of donations from area businesses, the event is free for participants.

This is a chance for children ages five to twelve to fish in a controlled setting that will almost guarantee success.

The children will be provided with bait, tackle and a fishing rod and reel, which will be theirs to keep after the event. Each child will also be provided with a hot dog and a drink for their participation in the “Kid Fish” event.

There will be no pre-registration this year, instead registration will begin about thirty minutes before each session, first come first served. We register about eighty per session. The first session starts at 9 a.m. and the last one at 3:30 p.m. We will take a quick break for lunch from 12 p.m.-12:30 p.m.

Employees and volunteers will provide hands-on help to aid these youngsters while they are fishing in hourly sessions. Many of these children will experience the thrill of catching thetr first fish.

Please come and help us make this a special day for these young anglers.

Donations are welcome and can be made to Lake Corpus Christi State Park, P.O. Box 1167, Mathis, Texas 78368
