Sherry Bowman and Debbi Heard, co-chairpersons of the 2009 Beeville Ladies Night Out event, presented a ceremonial check to chief operating officer Jerry Rodriguez representing the funds that were allocated to furnish two new pediatric- friendly patient rooms.

Ladies Night Out is a boutique shopping experience that is planned for women.

The first Beeville Ladies Night Out was held in 2005. Funds from the event benefit Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville and have been used to purchase new equipment and provide student scholarships.

Last year, $15,359 was designated for “child- friendly” equipment for the pediatric rooms. The remaining funds were divided between the Foundation Endowment Fund and the annual health care scholarship.

“Many thanks go to the 10 talented ladies who coordinated the event and to all of those who supported and attended Beeville Ladies Night Out,” they said.

Committee members

Beeville Ladies Night Out committee members are Sherry Bowman, Debbi Heard, Lou Adele May, Shirley O’Neil, Mary Joy, Melissa Hughes, Robin Pilgrim, Connie Hatfield, Jackie Hughes, Leticia Muñoz and Linda Arnold, Foundation support.

Equipment purchased

With funding from Ladies Night Out, the volunteers and Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville purchased two pediatric pumps (these are important because of the importance of dosages for pediatric patients), two 36-inch flat screen TVs, new window blinds, two Wii game systems, a Lazy Boy sleeper chair, a scale, a rectal thermometer, sure thermometer, halogen lights, a child’s wheelchair and a pediatric vein finder.
