Through a grant from the Joe Barnhart Foundation and a partnership with Coastal Bend College, the certified nursing assistant course is being offered to A.C. Jones students for the first time this year.

CNAs work under the supervision of a nurse and provide assistance to patients with daily living tasks.

CNAs give patients important social and emotional support and also provide vital information on patient conditions to nurses.

The program at Coastal Bend College allows the college credit that students receive from the program to be transferred to a licensed vocational nurse or registered nurse degree program.

During the spring semester, students will work in local nursing homes as part of the program.
