Josephine Riley Moehr, 84, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, following a long battle with cancer. She was a secretary for the Refugio Police Department for 27 years prior to her retirement.

Moehr was a member of the VFW Post 6290 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Refugio to the William A. Riley and Murty M. Bailey Riley.

She is preceded in death by her husband John A. Moehr; two sisters, Alice Dixon and Fannie Mae Riley; and three brothers, Bill Riley, Pat Riley, Roy Riley.

Survivors include two daughters, Roxie Padilla and Julie VanNess, both of Refugio; two sons, John A. Moehr and Kerry Moehr, both of Refugio; one sister, Ruth Skrobarcek of Refugio; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday April 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services were conducted Friday April 9, at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Refugio.

Pallbearers were Ron Kruger, Jimmy Dixon, Hugo Rosas, Wallace Maley, Steve Miller and Harvey Dierschke.

Roxie, Julie, John and Kerry. My deepest sympathy. I thought your Mum was a great lady and someone I enjoyed visiting with. I'm sure she will be missed desperately.
