T-Ball coach Darcy Siddon gives her young player Jacob Rodriguez a pat on the back and some instruction as to what comes next after you reach third base. The North Bee County Little League celebrated their opening day on Saturday with games slated for the entire day, BBQ plates and a cake auction and plenty of fun.

The North Bee County Little League had to wait a week due to some awfully wet weather but the sound of “Play Ball!” was finally heard last Saturday morning.

Amid the smell of BBQ plates and the cheers of all the parents, league officials and volunteers who made it all happen, the T-Ball Eagles in gray and maroon took to the field for some exciting action and fun.

“We’re excited about the season. We got a new scoreboard last year, new lights this year (thanks to Pettus ISD), a new backstop, a lot of new paint and the field is looking great,” said NBCLL President Caryel Kruger.

“We have 25 volunteers who have been a big help and will keep things going for us this year.”

The NBC Little League serves 100 children with two T-Ball teams, two coach-pitch teams, one minor boys team, one minor girls team and a boys major division squad and one junior boys team.

The league offered BBQ plates and held several cake auctions throughout the full day of baseball and softball. All proceeds will go to the league’s expenses and benefit the North Bee County Little League.

County Judge David Silva honored the tradition of throwing out the first pitch and it opened the season of fun and competition for the 100 North Bee County Little Leaguers.
