The American Cancer Society Joe Barber Memorial Relay for Life in Refugio County will be held Nov. 13-14.

The theme of this year’s relay is: Help Cancer Survivors Celebrate More Birthdays!

The kickoff meeting for team captains will take place Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 6:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Refugio.

Anyone interested in forming a team for the Relay For Life is invited to attend this meeting.

This is the 10th year that the Relay for Life has been held in Refugio County. Every year since 2001 the Relay has raised approximately $50,000 plus for the American Cancer Society. This money goes to support the many programs of the ACS.

Every year new teams join the Relay for Life because their families or friends have been touched by cancer. They do so because this is one way they can fight the battle against this terrible disease.

“The Relay is a fun and rewarding way to help fight cancer,” said Monica Flores, chairman of the event this year. “Come join us!”
