The annual tournament drew 32 teams.
After falling to Yoakum, Aransas Pass and John Paul in pool play on Thursday, the Lady Eagles came back on Saturday to compete in the bronze bracket of the tournament.
After falling to Mathis in close games with scores of 25-15 and 28-26, they defeated the Lady Cats. They then fought hard against Beeville but came up short in two of three matches, winning the first game, 25-19, and losting the second and third, 25-21 and 25-14.
“The Lady Eagles played well throughout the day and are coming together as a team,” said Coach Amy Waer. “We are a young team this year, but I see great things to come from this group.”
District competition begins Sept. 3 for the Lady Eagles as they go on the road to take on Austwell-Tivoli. The JV game begins at 5 p.m. and the Varsity will play at 6:30.
“Come out and Support the Lady Eagles,” Coach Waer said.
