The Goliad Tigers were in George West on Friday night to tangle with the Longhorns and the GW boys tamed the Tigers 21-6 for their second straight win of the season.

The Longhorns got on the scoreboard first with a 69-yard jaunt from Bobby Torres. Ty Jimmerson punched over the two-point conversion to give the home team an 8-0 lead in the first period.

The Longhorns recorded a second quarter touchdown from quarterback Seth Pipkin on a nine-yard run to light up the scoreboard again for the ‘Horns. The score, entering halftime, was all in favor of the Longhorns at 14-0.

Goliad came out and scored its lone TD in the third period to pull closer at 14-6 but that was all the GW defense was going to allow the Tigers.

The home team tacked on one final touchdown in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Pipkin ran in from four yards out to put the Longhorns in front 20-6 and Jimmerson had the PAT kick for the final score at 21-6.

Seth Pipkin finished the night with 40 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Cayleb Holt added 81 yards on 13 attempts. Bobby Torres led the team in rushing with 165 yards and one TD on just nine carries. Dylan White carried the ball five times, good for 35 yards. The Longhorns failed to complete a pass in six tries.

The Longhorn offense ran for 321 yards total for the game on 39 attempts.

The GW defense was led by Pipkin, White, Tyler Lee, Enrique Nieto, Jacob Almaguer, Joseph Moore and Phillip Alvarez – all of them swarming to the ball and coming up with stops against the Tigers.

The Longhorns travel to Poth on Friday to meet the Pirates. The kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
