The joy of the children was heard and felt as Santa entered the crowded room full of children from Beeville, George West and Three Rivers, during the Christmas holiday open house and red ribbon cutting ceremony. The grand opening of the Beeville Community Action Health Center was held on Monday, Dec. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

More than 250 children, parents and community leaders enjoyed a festive and chilly afternoon in good company where information was distributed to inform the community of the comprehensive services provided at the new state-of-the-art facility of the Beeville Health Center.

“I am extremely pleased with the expansion of our Health Center’s services in Bee and surrounding counties because the need for high quality affordable health care is a high priority for CACOST. The Beeville Health Center facility, is the newest facility open to the community to meet their health care needs,” said Rafael Treviño Jr., Community Action Corporation of South Texas (CACOST) executive director

“The comprehensive services provided in our facility are one of a kind in the area,” said Dr. Diana F. Bill, CACOST director of health services, “as we provide family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, dental services, pharmacy services and tremendously reduced lab costs, all in one facility. The comprehensive nature of our approach ensures that we work with the entire family in managing their diabetes, hypertension and dental needs for example,” Dr. Bill concluded.

Leonor Alvarez, director of the Beeville Health Center, said, “We wanted to ensure that as the families in the community attended the open house, we gave them not only gifts for their little ones, but also provide a service to meet their health and wellness needs. We were extremely pleased with the response of the many sponsors of the event, as well as the Beeville Police Department which provided free safety fingerprinting of the children.”

Alvarez concluded by saying, “Our doors are open to meet the comprehensive health needs of the community. We hope that we were able to bring a bit of Christmas cheer as we reminded all about the importance of having a medical home. Our health center can be your medical home.”
