REFUGIO – A Refugio man was arrested and faces theft of livestock charges, a third degree felony, according to Refugio Police Chief Andy Lopez Jr.

On July 17, the Refugio Police Department was contacted by Patty Shay, reporting that her 12-year-old blue roan stud horse was stolen from her property, adjacent to Bayou and King streets.

Working together, Texas Cattle Inspector Gary Baros and the Refugio Police Department “located the unique horse pinned in a stall behind a residence at 702 East King St. in Refugio.

“The inquiry led lawmen into a trail of twisted lies and deception. But it eventually led to the arrest of 20-year-old suspect Tyler Weise,” Lopez said.

Weise was in the Refugio County Jail, pending bond and a review by a Refugio County grand jury.
