The second degree felony offense prompted the Refugio County Sheriff’s Office to arrest Macias at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Sheriff Robert Bolcik said a juvenile relative of the 16-year-old victim, from Louisiana, made the complaint.
“She was a member of the family, staying down in Bayside when the incident occurred,” Bolcik said.
“The victim was interviewed by a psychological officer in Louisiana,” Bolcik said.
He noted that the guidelines for the case conform to what the court recommends.
“Subsequently, (Macias) was arrested for indecency with a child – sexual contact,” Bolcik said.
Macias was out of jail on $30,000 bond.
