One year anniversary

Chip (left) and Jeff Latcham, former publishers of the Beeville Publishing Company, congratulate Dennis Wade (center), current publisher, on Coastal Bend Publishing Company’s first year of owning and operating the Beeville Bee-Picayune and its five sister publications (covering Karnes, Goliad, Refugio, Live Oak and McMullen and San Patricio counties). On Jan. 31, 2020, the Latcham brothers, with more than 80 years combined experience in community newspapers, sold their longtime (Atkins-Latcham) family business to Jonathan McElvy and Coastal Bend Publishing Company. The Latchams remain greatly appreciative of the new owners for everything their team did to make the transition easier, allowing many employees to retain their jobs and the brothers to enjoy retirement, including more time spent with their families, especially grandchildren. Also, the Latchams commend the new owners for continuing to provide a trusted local news source and wish them all the best in any future endeavors in community journalism, particularly in the Coastal Bend. They value their commitment to hometown news and urge the community to continue supporting the local newspaper.
