BEEVILLE – First United Methodist Church is welcoming guest preachers at Sunday morning worship services for the rest of June while Pastor Dean Fleming is on vacation.
On June 16, Bishop Janice Riggle Huie will take the pulpit. A Beeville native who was raised in FUMC with her sisters, she recently retired after serving as bishop of the Arkansas and Texas Conferences of the UMC. She formerly served as president of the UMC Council of Bishops.
On June 23, Rev. Ed Sample will speak. Those who have worked with Kairos Prison Ministry at the McConnell Unit will have met Sample. He devotes much of his time to Kairos, serving on Kairos inside teams, at Monday Night Prayer and Share, and Saturday gatherings at the McConnell Unit. He is an associate minister at Rising Star Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.
On June 30, Phil and Debi Jones of Sunrise Ministries will return to Beeville. In 1995, Phil Jones formed Sunrise Ministries Inc., a nonprofit based in Austin. He and his wife, Debi, bring together their unique musical sound, witness and comedy, presenting programs to more than 100 churches. They last appeared at FUMC in October 2017.
Worship services begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, and the community is invited to attend.
