BEEVILLE – The Beeville Little League major baseball and junior baseball teams are still alive in their respective all-star tournaments.
Both teams have reached the championship final of their tournaments with the major boys playing in the Zone I tournament in George West and the junior boys playing in Ingleside.
The major boys were slated to face Sinton Tuesday night for a spot in the Zone I championship.
The major team opened play in the tournament with an 8-2 win over Odem Thursday night, then bested host team Live Oak 6-3 in the championship bracket semifinals Friday night.
The game against Sinton was scheduled to be played Monday night, but was pushed back a day.
The junior boys return to the field Thursday night at 8 p.m. in Ingleside with a spot in the district championship on the line.
The juniors opened tournament play Sunday with a 7-6 win over Taft, then downed the host team, Ingleside, 10-7 in the championship semifinals Monday night.
Beeville’s other three squads were bounced from tournament over the last week, all by teams from Live Oak Little League.
The minor baseball team after falling to Orange Grove and then beating Mathis, lost to Live Oak 17-7 last Monday night in Three Rivers.
The minor softball team was bounced from play Friday night with a 4-3 loss to Live Oak here in Beeville.
The Beeville girls opened with a 5-1 loss to Ingleside in the championship bracket last Monday, then beat Mathis 16-4 last Tuesday and Orange Grove 16-0 last Wednesday to reach the third round of the consolation bracket.
Beeville led 3-0 going into the sixth inning when Live Oak scored four times in the top of the inning to move in front.
The major softball team was eliminated Sunday night in Banquete.
Live Oak twice posted six-run innings on its way to a 17-10 win over the Beeville girls.
Beeville fell to Ingleside 10-0 last Tuesday in the tournament debut for both teams, but bounced back to get a 17-7 win over Orange Grove in the second round of the consolation bracket Friday night.
