SAN MARCOS – The 2019 annual Independent Cattlemen’s Association convention was held June 19-21 in San Marcos.

The South Central Texas Independent Cattlemen’s Association (SCTICA) chapter was well represented by Wilson County and Atascosa County delegates. SCTICA represents many counties around South Central Texas, but the four counties in the charter membership are; Wilson, Atascosa, Karnes and Bexar. Members in counties that do not have chapters are welcome to join SCTICA and are assigned through the state membership.

A live auction is held during the convention every year and this year James and Debbie Riley from SETICA, won the ATV donated by South East Texas ICA Chapter and the trailer to haul it donated by SCTICA.

Several SCTICA members won either a gift certificate or an ICA ice chest in the auction. The auction is the annual fund raiser for the state office.

Delegates representing SCTICA were Ronnie and Brenda Moore, Pat and Alton Kuykendall, and Weldon Riggs.

SCTICA members attended the Friday luncheon to show support to Weldon Riggs and Dr. Glen Tate who were named Trailblazers for SCTICA.

If interested in joining or learning more about the cattleman’s group for the whole family, come to the next meeting at the Jourdanton Community Center-Library Thursday, July 18. A complimentary meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by a CEU presentation on laws and regulations.

Weldon Riggs arranged for the speaker and said because it is often difficult to get CEUs on regulation and laws, the subject was chosen to present to our members.

If attending, RSVP  for the meal count to Gus Gonzalez, 210-275-3133 or A.L. “Windy” Miller 210-215-1139.
