STOCKDALE – Though it took them over half the game, the Falls City Beavers bounced back into the win column with a 20-3 victory against the Stockdale Brahmas Friday night

As a result, Falls City moved to 2-1 overall, while Stockdale remains winless at 0-3.

Falls City head coach Britt Hart said, “We had two long drives in that first half that stalled from mental mistakes. We made adjustments at halftime and told the kids that it’s all mental. They played a perfect second half, and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”

The lone score of the first half did not happen until the half was almost over. Stockdale kicked a field goal as time expired to take a 3-0 lead.

After that, the Beavers woke up. At the 4:36 mark of the third quarter, Brady Lyssy scored on a 10-yard run. The conversion attempt fell short, but the Beavers were ahead at 6-3. That score stood going into the final frame.

With 9:26 to go, Lyssy threw to Kevin Jendrusch for a touchdown pass and catch. The kick by Brandon Moczygemba was good, making it 13-3. The coup de grace came with 2:08 left, as Brady scored his second rushing touchdown, followed by another Moczygemba PAT.

Statistically, Lyssy gained 162 rushing yards, with Grant Jendrusch gaining 52 rushing yards and 42 receiving yards. On defense, Kevin Jendrusch and Alex Hofauer led Falls City with eight total tackles each.

“Our defense did an outstanding job of keeping Stockdale out of the end zone,” Hart said.
