Larry Ray Barnes Sr.

Larry Ray Barnes Sr., 73, of Kenedy, died Sunday, June 23, 2019.

Mr. Barnes was born July 22, 1945, in Rio Grande City to Thomas and Ruby Lee (Vaughn) Barnes Schultz. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Henry J. Schultz; brothers, James Thomas Barnes Sr., Eddie Barnes Sr., Lloyd Barnes and Rodney Gill; and a sister, Katherin Schultz.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah (Clayton) Broadway of Seguin and Christine Sponable of New Braunfels; a son, Larry Ray Barnes Jr. of Seguin; companion, Pam Barnes; sisters, Cheryl Schultz of Kenedy and Lisa (John) Fisher of San Antonio; brothers, Charles Alynn Schultz of Berclair and Johnny (Saundra) Schultz of Kenedy; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Eckols Funeral Home chapel.

The funeral service will be conducted there Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. with interment following at Kenedy Cemetery. 

A reception will be held at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church fellowship hall.

Pallbearers will be James Barnes, Michael Barnes, Edward Barnes, Jr., John Barnes, Tony OBrien, Kevin Gustafson, Bradley Johnson and Willie Desmond.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Schultz and Thomas Barnes.
