Mildred Ann Scheffler, of Cestohowa, passed away in Floresville on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the young age of 59.
Mildred was born on Dec. 4, 1959 to Sylvia and Louis Moczygemba, as the youngest of seven children.
Mildred loved spending her childhood following around her big brother and sisters, and playing with her nieces and nephews who were like siblings to her. She attended elementary school in Cestohowa, and went on to graduate from Falls City High School in 1978.
Mildred married her long time love Peter C. Scheffler on Nov. 11, 1978. Together they had three children, Chris, Melissa, and Melanie. She was blessed to become a grandmother in 2004, and has 5 grandchildren- Trey, Colt, Madilyn, Conner, and Caden.
For twenty-seven years, Mildred ran an in-home daycare and opened her home, and heart, to numerous children every day, giving them a home away from home. Friends and neighbors became family, and she loved each child as her own. She was their ”Mimi”.
Mildred was truly an amazing woman who always put everyone else before herself. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She was the rock of her family, and the “other mom” to so many children.
Mildred was a lifelong resident of Cestohowa and member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvia and Louis Moczygemba; brother, Norman Moczygemba; sisters Nancy Jaskinia Moczygemba and Marie Shirley Zaiontz.
She is survived by her husband, Peter C. Scheffler; sisters, Carolyn Cutright, Dorothy Mutz, and Jeanette Sorrell; son, Chris (Jennifer) Scheffler; daughters, Melissa Johnson and Melanie Scheffler; grandchildren Trey and Colt Johnson, Madilyn, Conner, and Caden Scheffler; numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, also at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa with Father Wieslaw Iwaniec officiating.
Interment followed at the Cestohowa Cemetery.
