Woodsboro – A 28-year-old Woodboro school district substitute teacher was arrested June 30 at her home, according to Refugio County Sheriff Pinky Gonzales.
Maria Coots was charged with an improper relationship between an educator and student. “The relationship has been going on for about four months,” Gonzales said. “There hasn’t been anymore relationships as far as we know,” Gonzales added.
The 18-year-old student was not identified.
A $50,000 bond was set on Coots, who was indicted by a Refugio County grand jury.
She remained in the Refugio County Jail as of Monday.
