The First United Methodist Church in Portland held their annual Fall Festival on Sunday. Families from all over the area came to play game, have their photos taken and pick out their favorite pumpkin from the church’s massive pumpkin patch. Patches like this date back to 1974. In North Carolina, a partnership was formed between a grower and a church and their agreement to share the proceeds. Churches only have to pay for what they sell with the remainder given away at the end of the season.
