With Steel Dynamics bringing its $1.7 billion steel mill project to Sinton, there’s a lot of preparations that need to be made in order for the city to take advantage of the growth – both economically and culturally.
PORTLAND – With all the talk of revitalizing the Old Town portion of Portland, there is one place located in that area that has been thriving since it opened in 1979.
SINTON – Lillibeth Martinez has always had her eye on pageantry. From the crowns to the dresses, she adores it all. Her love of pageantry will be taking her way to Florida in February for the 2020 Miss Celebrations USA Nationals competition.
CORPUS CHRISTI – While watching KIII-TV in the mornings before school, Leslie Adami would dream of sitting in that news anchor spot and giving her report of the local news. She made that dream a reality on Sept. 30 when she debuted as the new KIII-TV evening anchor.
SINTON – Owner and founder of Adrian Michael Events, Adrian Alaniz has been selected as the Texas representative to help decorate the White House for the upcoming holiday season.
FORT WORTH – While many dream of being on the big screen, Bailey Roberts made that dream a reality. The Portland native will star alongside actor Luke Wilson in the feature film “12 Mighty Orphans.”
CORPUS CHRISTI – Earlier this month, the Gonzales family from Mathis was in court asking Judge Nelva Ramos to consider an injunction that would allow Cesar and Diego Gonzales to participate in Mathis ISD extracurricular activities.
OLD SAN PATRICIO – The first legal hanging of a woman in Texas occurred in San Patricio County.
CORPUS CHRISTI – Late last month, the Texas Surf Museum unveiled a new Vietnam Veterans Memorial entitled “Waves of Honor” and features two walls of dog tags – one for each of the 3,414 Texans who died in the Vietnam Conflict.
OLD SAN PATRICIO – Protected by an electronic gate, far from view from passersby and tucked inside some woods sits an old house. So old, in fact, that it’s in the name – the Old Dougherty House.
SINTON – San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera raised concerns about EMS services at Commissioners Court meeting on Monday. He said ambulances are not showing up when called.
SINTON – San Patricio County has had six different courthouses, reaching as far back to 1837 when the county seat was located in Old San Patricio. The first courthouse in Sinton was built in 1893 with the current one built in 1928.
